About Folklorama
Folklorama is Winnipeg’s iconic multicultural festival — the largest and longest-running event of its kind
in the world. It brings together communities to celebrate diverse cultures through food, dance, music,
storytelling, and more. This year, AFV Kitchen is proud to oversee the kitchen for the Africa Pavilion,
and we’re seeking passionate volunteers to help bring it all to life!

Role Details
As a Volunteer for the Africa Pavilion Food Team, you’ll support kitchen and hospitality operations
during event week. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:
• Serving and selling food items to guests
• Engaging guests with info about the dishes (names, ingredients, cultural significance)
• Supporting cleanup, dish returns, and restocking during and after shifts

enjoy the richness of African culture through food — and ensures a smooth, welcoming experience for
all.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal volunteer is:
• Friendly, energetic and excited to engage with the public
• Reliable and a strong team player
• Passionate about African cuisine and culture
• We welcome all to apply, but priority may be given to individuals of African heritage to help us authentically represent the continent’s diverse cultures at the Pavilion.
• No prior food service experience is required (but it’s a plus!)

Your Commitment
• Available for at least one shift between August 3–9
• Shifts range between 4–6 hours (flexible scheduling available)
• Must attend a short orientation before the festival
